There is a fascinating exchange between two of my favorite writers, Andrew Sullivan, the libertarian/conservative, catholic British-American political pundit and Sam Harris - along with Richard Dawkins one of the foremost proponents of what some critics call the New Atheism - on the truth and viability of religious faith.

While I often like Sullivan's writing on political issues I have to count myself in Harris' camp for this discussion.

Hello, world!

For all the non-programming people out there: the title of this first post is not some childish and self-gratifying announcement to masses non-existent readers but the standard output of the first computer program you typically execute whenever you learn a new programming language.

Anyway, I have been reading various blogs - among them those in my blogroll but also many, many others - for just about 2 years and have finally decided that I should start one myself.

I do not plan on writing about myself - there are enough people out there desperate to tell you about what they are wearing or what they had for breakfast and other such important issues - but rather about various topics concerning politics and technological progress.

I can already say that I probably won't post in regular intervals - there are too many things I have to do in Real Life for that to be possible - but there are many pressing issues that I hope I will able to comment on now and then.


Für alle Nicht-Programmierer da draussen: der Titel dieser post ist keine kindische oder größenwahnsinnige Verlautbarung and die Massen von nicht existierenden Lesern sondern schlicht und einfach in jedem Programmierkurs das Output des ersten Programms, das man in einer neuen Programmiersprache lernt.

Nun, ich habe mich während der letzten knapp 2 Jahre sehr viel im Internet herumgetrieben und intensivst diverse blogs gelesen - darunter die in meiner Blogroll, aber auch viele, viele andere - und habe mich nun endlich entschlossen, auch selbst ernsthaft damit zu beginnen.

Ich habe nicht vor, über mich selbst zu schreiben - es gibt genügend Leute da draussen, die euch gerne erzählen, was sie heute angezogen haben und was sie gerade zum Frühstück essen etc... - sondern werde mich diversen Themenbereichen rund um Politik und technischen/wissenschaftlichen Fortschritt widmen.

Ich kann jetzt schon sagen, dass ich mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit sehr unregelmäßig posten werde - es gibt einfach viel zu viel zu tun in meinem Leben - aber es gibt dennoch sehr viele außerordenlich wichtige Themen, zu denen ich vorhabe, mich hin und wieder zu äussern.
